Expat Money Newsletter - April 2019

Welcome to the April Expat Money Newsletter.

This month we are focussing on the current state of the UK property market as the Brexit discussions drag on. Is it an attractive market for expat investment? And how easy is it to get a mortgage as an expat?

We also look at other issues that impact the financial position of expats, including your rights to get a second medical opinion when you have health insurance, and the latest expat savings rates.

We are planning to produce a new guide to retiring abroad and would welcome your input to ensure that it reflects the real experiences and thoughts of those who have already made the move, as well as those still planning their retirement abroad.

The latest report from Nationwide shows that UK property market remains subdued with the political turmoil and uncertainties over Brexit the main factor. The Nationwide House Price showed a 0.7% increase over the same month last year and 0.2% higher than last month.

UK Expat Mortgages Are Easier To Find Than You Might Think

One of the key reasons many expats move abroad is to realise their dreams of living a better quality of life and gaining financial independence. By choosing to work in a low tax environment, expats willingly make a choice to live and work away in order to help realise not only their own dreams but also help to promote the dreams and well being of their families and loved ones.

Liquid Expat Mortgages set out the issues around obtaining a mortgage as an expat and what type of mortgage you can get.
